Talk About It
Whether you are a teacher, business owner, healthcare professional, religious counselor, parent, or student leader, we need your help telling others about this issue. Lack of awareness and negative stigma are the biggest obstacles, which means that the discussions you have with people you care about will make the biggest difference.
Taking about substance use can be very vulnerable. Vulnerability can be hard to show, but it can also be freeing and beneficial. It means to put yourself out there to talk about the hard and uncomfortable topics, but it also means to open yourself up to possibilities and options to better yourself. Encouraging vulnerability and open discussion for people affected by substance use is crucial for recovery. Just having a discussion and being vulnerable about substance use in the population can have a huge impact.
